Admin Alley Lackland ISD Board of Trustees Approves Substitute Pay Increase
Lackland ISD recognizes the importance of having qualified substitutes to ensure program sustainability in the absence of teachers and staff. The availability of qualified substitutes affords the district the opportunity to support staff absences related to professional development and personal needs, including staff wellness. In the October 26, 2021 Board Meeting, the Lackland ISD Board of Trustees increased substitute pay as follows:
Given the increases, Lackland ISD hopes to recruit additional members to our team to ensure our vision as “The Premier Leader in Educational Excellence.”
LISD Board Trustee Sandra Wellman Promoted to Chief Master Sergeant Congratulations to LISD Board Trustee CMSgt Sandra Wellman who was officially promoted in a ceremony this morning. Chief Master Sergeant is the highest enlisted rank in the Air Force. It is a phenomenal accomplishment for someone who has only spent 20 years in the Air Force. In addition to her promotion, CMSgt Wellman was presented with the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) for the amazing work she continues to do in her current assignment. CMSgt Wellman has been a member of the Lackland ISD Board of Trustees since April 2020. She also serves on the board of the Lackland ISD Education Foundation as the Vice President of Programs. We are proud to have CMSgt Wellman on the LISD Board of Trustees and we honor her for dedicated service to the United States Air Force and our nation. Congratulations Chief!

Mr. Kinsey’s Principles of Applied Engineering class was joined virtually by a world renowned space architect, Sam Ximenez. He is the CEO of Exploration Architecture as well as the CEO of Astroport Space Technologies. His companies were recently awarded a NASA contract to develop the technology to robotically manufacture bricks from Lunar regolith and use them to robotically build landing pads for future human lunar landing missions. He shared with the students the processes needed in the design and manufacture on earth versus the vacuum of space and the harsh environs of the moon and hopefully inspired them to pursue emergent careers.
Last Friday, in recognition of Principal Appreciation Month, the Stacey HS Student Council presented hand-made cards and Sonic gift cards to Mr. Shelby and Ms. Tarvin. Thanks for your dedication to the students of Stacey Jr/Sr High School!
Several members of Stacey Jr/Sr High School’s Student Council attended the Fall General meeting on Thursday, October 28. Students were able to meet our AASC officer schools for this year and attend “table talks” to get ideas for projects they can do on our own campus. Council President for this year is Olivia Charles. Vice-President is Maria Orencia. Treasurer is Helena Sawvel and Secretary is Simone Sheehan.
S2S is Student to Student by: Jordan Fedder, Senior
This Tuesday and Wednesday both high school S2S and Jr High S2S hosted their first socials of the year to welcome all the new students to Stacey! New sponsors for this year for both clubs are Ms. Parham and Ms. Howard. We’re happy to have you and glad we got the chance to hang out. Our high schoolers enjoyed one another's company almost as much as they enjoyed some pie and ice cream. They were each given a bag of goodies and fun Whataburger items such as sunglasses and snacks, which they also seemed to enjoy greatly.
The Jr High had a wonderful little Halloween-themed gathering on Wednesday where they listened to some spooky music while they ate cake, pumpkin pie, and cookies. They talked amongst themselves and overall seemed to appreciate their time together.
