2023 HS UIL District Meet Results

Our High School UIL Academics District Meet was held on campus and at Falls City HS on Wednesday, March 22.

We had 19 amazing students from Stacey High School who practiced with their coaches throughout the Fall and early Spring to prepare for the District Meet!

Their coaches are Mr. Keller, Mrs. Garcia, Mrs. Palmerton, Ms. Polis, Ms. Rabidas, and Ms. Sims.

Click here for all of the results!

Students who finished in the top three places individually qualify for the Regional Meet! Students who placed 4th, 5th, or 6th are alternates.  The top 3-4 students of each 1st place team qualify for the Regional Meet. The Regional Meet will be April 21 – 22nd at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi.

Congratulations to all of our High School UIL Academics students on all of their hard work preparing for and participating in the District Meet!!!

Stacey Happenings

On March 10th the Stacey Drama Club competed in district UIL One Act Play competition here at Stacey. Sixteen of our high school students comprised the cast and crew of a one act adaptation of Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night. The students have been working on the show, a comedy about mistaken identity in a foreign land, since January. Despite positive reviews from all three judges the production did not advance to bi-district competition. Students did however receive multiple individual awards. Theresa Born won an outstanding technical award. Grace O’Brien won an Honorable Mention All Star Cast medal for her role as Olivia. All Star Cast awards went to Noah Morales for his role as Malvolio, Caila Crincic for her work as Sir Toby Belch and Ivy for their role of Viola. The students will hold public performances of Twelfth Night on April 5th and 6th at 6PM in the Lackland ISD Auditorium.

Mrs. Chan’s 6th grade ELA students prepared for Poetry March Madness by critiquing poetry, predicting the winning poems on their game bracket, and facing off against one another in a Trashketball match.

Mrs. Chan’s Creative Writing class met virtually with young adult author Paul Volponi. Mr. Volponi took students through a writer’s workshop while giving them insight into his process as a writer.

What kind of phone is better than a cell phone?

A satellite phone can be used anywhere in the world and does not depend on cellular towers.  Instead, it relies on orbiting satellites to send and receive signals every day.

Iridium is one kind of satellite phone that uses scores of satellites to provide phone service.  The Iridium satellite's antenna is highly reflective and produces bright flares, or glints that can easily be seen from Earth if you look at the right place at the right time.

The flares are up to 30 times brighter than Venus, can last from 5 to 20 seconds, and have been seen during the daylight hours.

Technology advances surround us every day!

Elementary Happenings

Students in Mrs. Duron's Family and Community Service class have been working with Mrs. Archibald Ormon's PreK class. The high school and PreK students made fruit smoothies and each group was able to taste test different types of fruits.

We love when Mrs. Duron's class comes to hang out and read with us during library specials!
