Education Technology Day takes place on September 23 every year. It celebrates and appreciates the technology that helps students to learn better and teachers to teach better. It also celebrates the professionals who support the use of this technology and make sophisticated learning happen through technology. Did you know that students who use devices for study achieve better? Yes, in the United States, students with more than 60 minutes per week of device use achieved higher academic results. So, let’s learn about the history of educational technology and the benefits it brings to the learning process. Interested in pursuing a technology-related degree or maybe you want to become a teacher? Whichever path you choose, there are plenty of technology scholarships and education scholarships to help cover your tuition.

CONGRATULATIONS! Purple Star Campus Designation SY 2024-25

The Purple Star Campus Designation is a distinct honor created by the Texas Legislature to recognize Texas public schools and open-enrollment charter schools that show their support and commitment to meeting the unique needs of military-connected students and their families. Applications to earn the Purple Star Campus designation open in the spring, and the designations are announced in the fall.

This year, we are excited to announce that Lackland Elementary School and Virginia Allred Stacey Junior/Senior High School have maintained their Purple Star Campus designations!

These campuses will retain the Purple Star Campus designation for school years 2024-25 and 2025-26. We will be sharing a congratulatory letter from the Commissioner via email to you, your Superintendent, and dedicated Military Liaison with a high-resolution Purple Star logo for use on your district website.

Campuses that have earned the designation this year will need to apply for recertification in Spring 2026. Click the link below to see the list of this year's awardees organized by ESC, LEA and campus.
