Please see the information below.
HB 165 -Relating to providing for endorsements for public high school students enrolled in special education programs
The bill creates a path for students within a Special Education program (under Subchapter A, Chapter 29 of the Education Code) to earn an endorsement on their high school diploma.
HB 391 -Relating to student access to public instructional materials and technology. This bill requires a school to ensure a child has access to instructional materials at home by requiring the school district or open-enrollment charter school to provide printed book materials for students who have limited or no access to the internet or technology in their home. Around the District The Stacey Library celebrated your freedom to read by participating in Banned Books Week. “By focusing on efforts across the country to remove or restrict access to books, Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship.” (Bannedbooksweek.org) Stacey Happenings The Stacey Junior/Senior High School Freshman Class of 2023 recently elected its officers for the 2019-20 academic year.

Congratulations and we look forward to a great year.
S2S Lunch Bunch Written By: Conner O’Malley – Senior s2s Member
On Thursday, September 19th, Stacey S2S had their first Lunch Bunch event. This is a fun, engaging event designed to provide the new students here at Stacey with an enjoyable way to spend their lunch and learn about some of their classmates, the school, and San Antonio. There were games, like Ships and Sailors and name games. S2S members and at about 20 new students enjoyed the fun, the goodie bags, and of course, ice cream. The event was a resounding success, and a great way to help get the new students out of their shell, and into Stacey.

Meet Mr. Brian Hernandez by: Kamryn Thompson, sophomore This year at Stacey we welcomed several new teachers, including Mr. Hernandez. He teaches World History and PF Literacy. Mr. Hernandez was not always a teacher, he used to work in the athletic department for a football team. He has a family of three, including: his wife, his four year old son, and him.
Interview:
What is your favorite color? Purple
What college did you go to? Kansas State University
What did you do before teaching? I was a collegiate athletics communications professional for 15 years, most recently at UTSA for 11 years (2006-17). I also had stints at the University of Texas (2000-03), Fresno State University (1999) and my alma mater, Kansas State (1997-99).
What made you want to switch careers? I wanted to make a more direct impact on teenager/young adult’s lives and I felt education would best fulfill that. My wife also is an educator and I have seen how fulfilled she is professionally and how much influence she has on her students’ lives.
What is your favorite thing to do with your son? Anything really. Just spending time with him and watching him grow as a person is one of my greatest joys in life (Maxwell is 4 years old).
What are your hobbies? I enjoy spending time with my family, watching sports and traveling.
What is your favorite food? I love to eat pizza (both New York and Chicago style) and Tex-Mex.
Once you retire from teaching what do you want to do? Live a relaxing life that includes traveling across the United States and different parts of the world.
THANK YOU Mr. Hernandez!
