In October 2020, Missouri Trapshooters Association held their, postponed, State Trapshooting competition from the 2019-2020 school year.  Kearney Trapshooting Club took three teams to Linn Creek, MO to compete against 394 teams for the state championship.

Team 1: Hayden George-Duncan, Savannah Peisert, Nathan Pratt, Joey Sempek, Hunter Wheeler (State Champion Team)

Team 2: Kale Campbell, Ethan Cox, Jordan Hoessel, Jenner Swindler, Kolben Swindler

Team 3: Jordan Robertson, Jossie Taylor,

Team 2 and Team 3 had a good showing setting some personal records. Some of these shooters were attending the state championship for the first time, and it was great to see their skills showcased during the competition.

Team 1 was full of seasoned state shooters with each shooter previously earning a state championship in another competition. At this year’s state competition, as a team, they shot 482 birds out of 500. That is an average of 96/100 birds hit by each shooter.

Joey Sempek shot 99/100 to earn him the 2nd place state trophy of all Juniors in the state competition.

Out of the other 394 teams that competed, the 482/500 was the best high school team score making KHS’s Team One State Champions!

KSD Families and Community:

Homecoming week is September 28-October 2. Each year KSD Homecoming gives us the opportunity to celebrate our Bulldog pride! This year, the experiences may be different, but in true Bulldog fashion we will use our creativity to show our incredible Bulldog spirit!

Unfortunately, some traditional events have been canceled due to the pandemic. The Homecoming parade, dance and KHS Powderpuff game will not occur next week.

Nonetheless, KSD staff members have been hard at work to create a spirited week. We have teamed up with the Kearney Chamber of Commerce and are encouraging businesses and the entire community to participate in our Spirit Days!

Here is a look at KSD’s Homecoming Week:
Note: A couple of buildings have slightly different spirit days. Those are posted below.

KEEC Spirit Days
Dogwood Spirit Days

Varsity Football Game, Friday, October 2: Attendance to the Friday Varsity Football game will be limited. Event participants will be allowed 2 guests. The pregame and halftime crowning festivities, and the game will be live streamed on bulldogbroadcasting.com.

We look forward to a great week!
