All About Ms. Sara
My name is Sara Rapp and I am very happy to be your child’s teacher this year. This is my 21st year of teaching preschoolers!
I grew up in Long Beach (not too far from Huntington Beach), in a very large family. I am the 7th of 10 children with 8 sisters and 1 brother. Growing up in that environment really shaped my interest in working with children. I attended Millikan High School and played competitive volleyball. I received a volleyball scholarship to the University of San Diego where I eared my B.A. degree in both Sociology and Psychology. After college, I played professional volleyball in Holland for one year before returning to Long Beach to "figure out" what I wanted to do with my life (I thought I had no interest in teaching at this point).
My older sister was a second grade teacher and she convinced me to be a substitute for my first real job! I instantly fell in love with the special education preschool classes and was offered a teaching position the following year. Five years later, I earned my teaching credential in Early Childhood Special Education from California State University, Dominguez Hills; and two years after that I received my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from California State University, Long Beach. I have worked for HBCSD since 2005, and taught in the Downey Unified School District from 1999-2005. My program had been at Hawes Elementary for 12 years; this is my sixth year at Eader!
I live in Costa Mesa with my wonderful husband Eddie, and our two sons Jesse Ramone (14) and Eli (12). In 2019 we spent the year traveling and living in Spain....then COVID happened. I returned to teaching after two years of homeschooling my children and traveling. It is great to be back at Eader and I look forward to a productive year.
