Course Description:

Environmental Science is a year-long course designed to show the thematic connections between a variety of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, and physics. It gives students a coherent and realistic picture of the applications of a variety of scientifc concepts as they manifest in our environment. During this first semester of environmental science, students will focus on human population growth, natural resources, and ecosystem dynamics. The aim of this course to increase student knowledge of the environmental challenges of today, while continuing to cultivate scientifc critical thinking skills.

• Take care of class materials and equipment.

*If students fail to meet these expectations, consequences will be determined as outlined in the student handbook.

• CELL PHONES WILL BE HUNG IN THE DOOR HANGER AS STUDENTS ENTER CLASS AND CAN BE RETRIVED WHEN STUDENTS EXIT THE CLASS. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THIS POLICY WILL RESULT IN CONFISCATION OF THE CELL PHONE TO BE RETRIEVED BY PARENT/GUARDIAN.

Assignments:

All assignments need to be turned in on time, neatly completed. No late work accepted. Assignments will include daily work, quizzes, lab activities, projects, and tests.

Grading:

Your grades will be weighted according to the scale below:

• 25% tests/projects
• 60% lab activities/daily work
• 15% quizzes
