Are students counted absent on March 16th- April 3rd?
No. Students who could not attend on March 16th were not counted absent. Schools are closed March 17th through March 27th. Spring Break is March 30th through April 3rd.

My child attends HHS and can exempt some exams. Did a March 16th absence hurt that?
No.

My child has perfect attendance for the school year but missed on March 16th. Did that hurt him/her?
No. The state of emergency under which we are operating has changed typical attendance rules.

We have been required to attend Early Warning Court/ Truancy Court proceedings and are concerned about missing these days of school. Will they count against us?
No. The state of emergency under which we are operating has changed typical attendance rules.

If school resumes on April 6th and I choose to keep my child at home anyway out of an abundance of caution, will those days count against my child?
We don’t yet know. We will have to wait for directives from the Governor and the State Superintendent of Education.

When will we know when the decision is firm to return to school on April 6th or extend the days away from school?
We don’t yet know this. As of 3.16.20 and per State Superintendent Mackey, the decision will be revisited on April 5th.
