BRAD BLAKEMORE CONCLUDES 29 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO HALLSVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT
Having completed nearly three decades of service, Activities Director Brad Blakemore announced his retirement from the Hallsville School District, effective June 30, 2024. Blakemore has played an instrumental role in shaping the educational and physical infrastructure of the Hallsville School District. His journey began in the fall of 1994 when he started as a student teacher, marking the initial steps of a career devoted to education and the betterment of the school community.
His passion for teaching and connecting with students set the foundation for a career dedicated to fostering a love for learning. During his tenure, Coach Blakemore has held numerous coaching positions. He has coached softball, track, and baseball, but he is best known for his leadership of the Lady Indians basketball program from 1995 to 2014.
Under Blakemore's guidance, the Lady Indians basketball program achieved remarkable success, including two trips to the State Final Four, four conference championships, and an impressive 15 consecutive seasons with a winning record. His coaching prowess and commitment to the overall development of his players have left an indelible mark on the Hallsville School District.
Blakemore's legacy extends beyond the classroom and the sports arena. Serving as the Activities Director for the district for the past twelve years, one of his initial projects was the rebranding project, which resulted in the creation and implementation of the current logo package. He was the driving force for expanded student opportunities through the addition of various programs while also spearheading significant facility improvements during his tenure.
Under his leadership, the district witnessed the establishment of the Strength and Conditioning classroom, the addition of the Wrestling practice facility, and the opening of the Primary gym. The final chapter in facility upgrades occurred with the remodeling of the West gym and the relocation of the track to the Football stadium, along with the introduction of an artificial turf playing surface, providing state-of-the-art facilities for both athletes and the broader school community.
In a heartfelt farewell statement, Blakemore expressed gratitude for the support and collaboration he has experienced throughout his 29 years with the Hallsville School District. "It has been an incredible journey, and I am immensely thankful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Hallsville community. The passion and dedication of the educators, staff, and students have truly made a lasting impression on me."
The district will soon initiate the process of finding a successor who will build upon the foundation laid by Blakemore and continue the pursuit of educational excellence, athletic achievement, increased student opportunities, and ongoing facility improvements for the Hallsville community.
