Dear Galway Families,
We hope you are continuing to stay healthy, strong, and positive during this time. We miss seeing everyone!
Governor Cuomo announced today in his daily press briefing that all schools in NYS will remain closed for the 2019-20 school year. This is not the outcome we hoped for but does allow us to better plan for the future as we move toward the 20-21 school year. Remote learning will continue as we all work from home to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Further details will be provided as soon as the Governor issues an Executive Order. We expect it will contain information about the last day of remote learning K-12 and provisions for the continuation of childcare of essential employees and nutrition services that so many families have come to rely on during this time of need.
In accordance with Governor Cuomo's announcement today the New York State Public High School Athletic Association's 11 member Sections have canceled all remaining spring sports. We appreciate the dedication of our athletes and coaches and are saddened that they are unable to showcase their talents this Spring.
Information about summer programs will be communicated at the end of May as we await further guidance from the Governor.
All the district buildings and grounds will remain closed to the public until we are notified that it is safe to begin reopening with proper health and safety precautions. Information on locker cleanout will be provided to you by your child's principal.
Special thanks to our Galway families who have contributed in ways small, large, and unimaginable. Your support is undeniable and our school district is an amazing place filled with compassion, dedication, and love! To show our support please join us on campus for a "reverse" parade at 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2020. Staff will be following CDC guidelines as they line the perimeter of the parking lot. Families may remain in their cars and drive through the elementary parking lot to cheer, wave, and say hello. This will be a celebration of everyone's hard work and dedication in getting through this together!
