Galway Junior-Senior High School Principal Michael Miller is proud to announce the Top 10 Graduates in the Class of 2022. “This group of dedicated, hard working students showed flexibility and grit as they navigated through the challenges of the past couple of years,” said Mr. Miller. “They adjusted as health and safety protocols changed and helped define the new normal here at Galway Junior-Senior High School.”
Sadie Underwood, daughter of Ann and Troy Underwood of Middle Grove, is the valedictorian of the Class of 2022. Sadie served as sergeant of arms for Student Senate, treasurer of Galway TV (GTV), treasurer of Eagles Media Center (EMC), and handled public relations for Class Office. She was a member of Lion’s Club, National Honor Society, and Galway club volleyball. Sadie played on the highly successful varsity volleyball team for three years and competed in state semi-finals her sophomore year, won the league championship her junior year, and made it to state finals her senior year. As a senior, she received WAC Honorable Mention. She plans to attend the University of South Florida in the fall to major in pre-med in hopes of becoming a dermatologist.
Anna Dabrowski, daughter of Thaddeus Dabrowski, Kristy Webster, and Justin Webster of Galway, is the salutatorian of the Class of 2022. Anna is a two-sport varsity athlete who played volleyball and ran track. She was a middle hitter for the varsity volleyball team's long run this year, and she was named second team for the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Best and Brightest award. She was president of Student Senate, the Class of 2022, and National Honor Society. She was the head editor of Eagles Media Center and an anchor for Galway TV. Throughout her years at Galway, Anna also participated in Jazz Band, Pep Band, Robotics, Science Club, Weather Club, Best Buddies, MasterMinds, and Poetry Out Loud. Anna plans to attend Stevens Institute of Technology in the fall to pursue an undergraduate and graduate degree in systems engineering through their 4+1 program.
Isabella Hart is a heavily involved student. She is the vice president of National Honor Society, an editor for both Eagles Media Center and Impressions, the school’s literary magazine, and a morning anchor for Galway Television (GTV). Isabella served as president of Science Club and FFA and secretary for Student Senate and Class Office. She participated in Masterminds, Band, Marching Band, and Leo’s Club. Isabella took many honors and college level courses throughout her high school career. In the fall, she plans to attend the State University of New York at Oneonta, where she will major in English. She is the daughter of Marguerite and Sean Hart of Amsterdam.
Anna Meisenburg is a two-sport athlete who played varsity soccer for three years and ran varsity track for four years. She also danced competitively for eight years, winning many awards. Anna was an academic scholar throughout high school and served as the vice president of the Class of 2022 for all four years. She also participated in Student Senate, National Honor Society, Jazz Band, Science Club, and GTV. Anna plans to attend Rochester Institute of Technology as a political science major through their 3+3 program with Syracuse Law. She is the daughter of Lisa Rogowski and stepdaughter of Gregory Perron of Galway.
Camryn Marie Carnevali is excited to be attending the State University of New York at Oneonta in the fall. She focused primarily on academics throughout her high school career and made contributions as the secretary of both Class Office and National Honor Society. She is a member of Galway's GSA and an anchor for GTV as well. She is the daughter of Janet and Joseph Carnevali of West Charlton.
Jalene Graham is a member of the varsity softball team and Yearbook Committee. She was an Academic Scholar throughout her high school career and enjoyed playing softball for both Galway and a travel team, earning an Honorable Mention Softball Award her senior year. Jalene is excited to attend the University of Massachusetts - Amherst in the fall, working towards a degree in psychology. Jalene is the daughter of Beth DeRidder of Galway.
Eliza Eagan is a two-sport athlete who enjoyed playing basketball and softball. She was an Academic Scholar throughout her high school career and was a member of the Yearbook Committee, Marching Band, and Senior High Band. Eliza was chosen as School Ambassador Representative during her sophomore year, and she received athletic awards including Most Improved in basketball, Most Improved in softball, Most Valuable Offensive Player, and Second Team All Star Award for softball during her junior and senior years. She is looking forward to attending the State University of New York at Oneonta in the fall to pursue a degree in elementary education. Eliza is the daughter of Tom and Valerie Eagan of Charlton.
Hannah French is a very active student athlete who competed on varsity soccer for three years and varsity basketball for two years. She also ran track her senior year and played softball freshman year. Hannah was named WAC All-Star Second Team for soccer. She is involved in a number of clubs and officer positions including president of the Leo’s Club, vice president of Science Club, treasurer in Class Office, treasurer in FFA, National Honor Society member, Galway TV director, and treasurer for Band. She will attend the University of Hartford in the fall to major in graphic design and photography. Hannah is the daughter of Michelle and Scott French of Galway.
Rosie Matecko-Conti is a dancer and captain of the varsity cheerleading team. She is the treasurer of National Honor Society, a member of Yearbook, and vice-president of Galway High’s Drama Club. Rosie played Dorothy and helped choreograph a scene in the spring play. She won many awards with her competitive dance team. Rosie is attending the State University of New York at Buffalo in the fall to major in Asian studies. She is the daughter of Tammie and Michael Matecko-Conti of Galway.
Emma Spadaro is a three-sport athlete who competed in varsity soccer, basketball, and track and field for four years. She was a captain of both basketball and soccer teams. She was named best shooter in basketball, and was named to the WAC All Star First Team in soccer. She was also a member of National Honor Society, FFA, Band, and Marching Band. Emma plans to attend Hudson Valley Community College in the fall to study biology and continue her basketball career. She is the daughter of Christy and Thomas Spadaro of Middle Grove.
