Reminder: The 1st ever “Miss” Falcon Show is this Friday night in the EHS Gym, and starts at 7:00 PM sharp. Cost is $10.00 for adults and $7.00 for students. The $ raised stay right here in our community. The girls have been working hard, have raised a significant amount of money so far, and I expect a great show!
If you haven’t had a chance to visit the webpage of our school counselor, Mrs. Meagan Haas, please do so. This is a great spot to get information. For example, recently (on March 5th) she posted a link on her College and Career Center page, that gives information about the upcoming changes to the SAT that will take place beginning in 2016. This “Counselor Page” should be a good resource to students and families, especially Junior’s and Seniors that are planning to go to College. Feel free to email Meagan directly at mhaas@fernridge.k12.or.us if you have questions or suggestions for this page.
It will be in the EHS gym this Friday night, March 21st, the doors open at 5:30 and the game starts at 6:00. In addition to the game, your entrance fee includes a pulled pork sandwich dinner with chips, baked beans, slaw and a beverage. Cost is $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Finally, there will also be many great items that have been donated that will be sold via a “silent auction.” Come on out and support Miss Falcon. All of the $ raised go right back to our local community.
This Thursday evening parent teacher conferences will be held in the EHS cafeteria from 4:00-8:00 PM. There are not any conferences on Friday morning. If you are unable to meet with teachers during this Thursday evening time, feel free to contact teachers directly and set something up at a time that works for both of you. We will have progress reports to pass out at conferences. For those that do not attend, they will be mailed home. Feel to free to call the school if you have any questions.
This week is Classified employee appreciation Week. The classified employees in a school are the secretaries, bookkeepers, custodians and educational assistants. EHS has 15 outstanding classified employees that are a critical part of our school. A big thank-you to Angela, Leiisa, Tammy, Robin, Stacy, Kelley, Debbie, Andrea, Stephanie, Julie Cross, Julie Bothel, Dale, Bob, Tony and Mike. Thanks to all of you, for all you do!!
GIRLS BBX PLAYOFF GAME: Come out and support the EHS Girls Basketball team, at home, this Saturday March 1st at 5:30 PM as they play the LaPine Hawks in a State Tournament “Play-in” Game. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for Students. No league passes can be accepted for this game. Good Luck and Go Falcons!
Since the District decision to add 4 school days onto the end of the year, I have had several questions regarding final exams if parents/families already have plans that will have them out of town. The short answer is not to worry, yes this is something we can accomodate. For obvious reasons it is best if a student can take their final exam at the regularly scheduled time (the exact schedule isn’t set yet, but it will be some combination of June 17th-19th). However, we understand that things may come up, especially this year since the school year has been extended. The general process is this:
1. Let the school know so that teachers can have copies of an alternative final exam in the office.
2. Student will schedule with Mr. Carpenter in the office a later time to take the exam, either prior to July 1, or after July 20th
2. The teacher will submit a grade of “I” (Incomplete)
3. The student will take the exam at the alternatively scheduled time (No Final exams are given early)
4. When the teacher returns in August the exams will be graded and a “grade change” submitted to the registrar.
Feel free to contact the school if you have questions
Monday, March 3rd is the first day for Spring Sports here at EHS. Baseball, Softball and Track & Field will all hold their first practices after school on Monday. In order to be eligible to practice Monday, students must have all paperwork, an updated physical and their sports fee taken care of by Friday, February 28th. If your student is unsure what they need, they can stop by the bookkeepers window anytime, or contact Tammy in the office.
