Goal of Facilities and Custodial Department:
Provide students, faculty, and the community with a sanitary, healthy, and safe environment to work and learn in. We take pride in our Facilities and Grounds.
Current Awareness
Asbestos Awareness- The Toxic Substance Control Act of 1986 put protocols and procedures in place to deal with asbestos in school buildings. Asbestos materials and products present in schools are often very old, and may become friable, which can pose a hazard to students, teachers, and other school employees. School districts are required to complete asbestos inspections every three years.
Lead Testing Results- In 2016 all school districts were instructed by the State to complete lead testing on water sources in the schools. We have completed all the lead testing, and results are in our maintenance department records.
Pesticides- All pesticides on school grounds are applied by Greener World Landscape Maintenance, LLC
Radon- Radon testing was completed in 1993 and remediated at that time.
Building Condition Survey- Building condition surveys are scheduled every five years. The survey determines the condition school facilities are in by thoroughly inspecting our buildings and are necessary in planning for future building projects . This is mandated by, and reimbursable through, the State Education Department for a percentage of the cost to the district.
