The LRIS School Spelling bee was held on Monday, December 16, 2024 in the school library. Thirty-four students participated and qualified by earning first place in their individual classroom spelling bees. The competition went 17 rounds and well into 7th grade level words. Cora McDaniel from Ms. Wilks’s 5th grade class won the competition by spelling the championship word “inferno.” Adley Malone from Ms. Crowe’s 4th grade class finished in 2nd place, with Natalie Harris and Jayli Marinez tying for 3rd place. Cora will represent LRIS in the Dekalb County Spelling Bee on January 17, 2025.
