Who We Service

  • Ages 2 years, 9 months - 5 years**

**Note: students who are already 5 years old AND meet the requirements to start kindergarten may be directed to their elementary school site for screening.

Typical Process and Timeline

    1. Screening Process

      1. Two screenings are required: the developmental screening and the hearing/vision screening.

        1. Child Find is a play-based group screening that looks at the five major areas of development: cognitive, communication, social emotional, adaptive, and physical development. This process takes approximately 45–60 minutes.

        2. The University of Arizona provides free hearing and vision screenings at our location. This process takes about 15 minutes.

      2. If the results of the screenings determine that there may be potential developmental delays, the team will refer your child for a comprehensive developmental evaluation.

    2. Comprehensive Developmental Evaluation Process

      1. Your child will be scheduled for an in-person evaluation appointment. This process will take about 60–90 minutes and will include an in-depth evaluation of the five areas of development as well as any other potential concerns.

      2. Within 60 days of the evaluation appointment, the team will schedule a follow-up meeting to discuss results and determine if there is a need for special education services.
