The Flagstaff Unified School District (FUSD) is excited to announce its partnership with CommunityShare, a new initiative designed to connect educators with parents, local professionals, and community members to create dynamic, real-world learning opportunities for students. By linking classrooms with a “human library” of individuals who bring diverse skills, knowledge, and experiences, this innovative platform enriches the educational experience for FUSD’s PK-12 students.
CommunityShare’s digital platform allows community members to create profiles that highlight their expertise and interests. Educators can then browse the platform to find collaborators for projects, guest speakers, mentors, and more. This approach fosters meaningful connections that inspire curiosity and build critical life skills among students.
Superintendent Michael Penca emphasized the impact of these partnerships.
“Guided by our incredible community members, we can inspire curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking,” he said. “Even one hour of your time can have a lasting impact.”
FUSD invites individuals from all backgrounds to participate, whether you’re an engineer, artist, athlete, traveler, or community leader. To join, visit www.communityshare.org/flagstaff, create a profile, and complete a background screening to ensure student safety. Educators in the district are encouraged to use CommunityShare as a resource for finding partners and inspiration for classroom projects.
