2014 Gifted Students Bring Home Awards
Claudia Rudisill, Abigail Godard, Taylor Wiles and Alexis Ogle, gifted seventh grade students in Mrs. Kozack's class, competed in a statewide competition entitled "I'm a Leader" sponsored by the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council. The students were to submit a piece of work that expressed what leadership is or what leadership looks like to them. The students wrote and sang a song entitled "Leader" that won them first place. They will be honored at an assembly and will be awarded a $100.00 gift card.
Colby Redding and Evan Ewing, fifth grade gifted students in Mrs. Kozack's class, won second place in the first annual STEM Design Challenge sponsored by the LIU. Students were expected to build a "people moving" vehicle that could move 4 feet across a table and pass through a hazard. Students were also required to give a two minute presentation and draw an outline of their vehicular device (as Colby likes to refer to their vehicle).
