2.26.25 EMUEA Negotiation Updates
The District (EMUHSD) would like to provide our school community with an update on the recent negotiations with the El Monte Union Educators Association (EMUEA). We are pleased to announce that we have completed negotiations for the 2024-2025 school year with the following tentative agreements between the District and EMUEA:
Tentative Agreements and MOU’s
Article 8: Hours
- A classroom teacher selected as general chair of the Accreditation Committee shall have two semester periods of release time for a WASC full-accreditation visit or one semester period of release time for a mid-cycle visit for purposes of fulfilling the chairperson’s responsibilities. A non-classroom teacher selected as general chair of the Accreditation Committee shall be compensated up to 100 hours per semester at the approved workshop rate. For a WASC full-accreditation, the member will be compensated for two semesters. For a WASC mid-cycle visit, the member will be compensated for one semester. The site principal shall determine for which semester(s) the general chair is given release time or compensation.
Article 9: Evaluation Procedure
- An MOU was agreed upon to create a committee to review and support the implementation of the new California Standards for the Teaching Profession Standards (CSTP's) to be introduced for the 2025-2026 school year
Article 12 B : Catastrophic Leave
- Participants in the Catastrophic Sick Leave Bank will become active at the time of their donation and will remain active through September 30 of the following year unless they are exempt from donating per subsection 1 of this article, in which case they will remain active through September 30 of the next year for which the one thousand (1000)-day threshold has not been met.
Article 16 A: Reproductive Loss Leave
- An employee can take five (5) days of fully paid leave following their own reproductive loss event or that of another person, such as a spouse or partner, if the employee would have been the parent of the child born or adopted. Such leave does not need to be taken consecutively.
Article 29-Salary and Fringe Benefits
- 2024-2025: Increase on-schedule salary one percent (1%), effective July 1, 2024. In addition, all bargaining unit members will receive a one-time, two and one-half percent (2 ½ %) off-schedule payment.
MOU - PD Days 2025-2026:
- Three (3) Professional Development days will be provided for the 2025-2026 school year
MOU - Summer School 2025:
- For the 2025 summer school session, EMUHSD will partner with RHC. Rio Hondo College will provide Math Academy courses on District school sites for EMUHSD students. All Math Academy instructors will be employed through RHC. All other summer school instructors will be employed by EMUHSD. As part of this partnership,the 2025 summer school hourly rate for all instructors hired by the District will be $70 per hour.
