Captain Brandy Miles joins the teaching staff at Destin High School for school year 2023-24 as the Fishing 1 and Fishing 2 teacher. A lifetime resident of Destin, she grew up around charter boats. From deckhand at 16 years old to captain, Miles is currently one of the only female charter boat captains in the Destin charter fishing fleet. After volunteering a season in the classroom, Miles said she fell in love working with the students and knew that teaching the next generation of deckhands and future captains was the right course for her. When she’s not in the classroom, Miles runs a successful family-based charter boat business, Emerald Coast Charters, where she captains the “Discipleship,” a 46- foot Viking Sport fish.
