CCMS Cell Phone Info
Dear CCMS Parents and Students,
As a reminder, and in full compliance with the CCSD Board of Education policy and NYSED law, all non-school issued internet-enabled and cellular devices, including cell phones and smartwatches etc., must be powered off and will be required to be stored in student lockers immediately upon entering the middle school. This will ensure students are fully present and engaged during class time. At the conclusion of the school day, students will retrieve their devices from their lockers.
As per BOE policy students who are out of compliance with this policy, will be disciplined progressively in accordance with our guidelines. Students who violate the rules may have their device held by staff. Parents will be notified of each offense, and may be required to pick up devices of repeat offenders. Students who repeatedly violate the rules may lose additional school privileges (dances, sports events, clubs, etc…).
Please note that this policy remains in effect throughout the entire school day. Cell phones, smart watches and other electronic device use is prohibited during passing time, study hall and lunch.
We understand that devices are a significant part of daily life, but research consistently shows their presence can be a major distraction that impacts academic performance and focus. This practice is a proactive step to reduce those distractions and foster a more conducive learning environment for all students. We believe this will have a positive impact on both academic success and overall well-being.
In the event you need to contact your student during the school day, please call our main office at (845) 534-8009 x. 4000 or email CCMSMainOffice@Cornwallschools.com.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to support our students.
