Collinsville, IL — November 22, 2021  Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 is proud to announce the continued progress of the Collinsville Community Inclusion Team (CIT), enabling community stakeholders to collaborate in an effort to ensure that preschool students in Collinsville and the surrounding areas have access to high quality, inclusive classrooms.

“This team’s shared vision, ongoing participation, and growing membership demonstrate the commitment our community has for inclusion,” according to Alison Underwood, Collinsville CUSD 10 Director of Special Education.

C0ntinued Broad-based Community Collaboration

The Collinsville CIT includes representatives from several community-based organizations, including Riverbend Head Start, Children’s Home and Aid’s Stronger Beginnings and Childcare Resource and Referral programs, Early Intervention-CFC 21, and Star Net Region IV.  CUSD 10 staff, administrators and families are also represented on the team. The work of the CIT is summarized in their vision statement: “We exist to prepare young children from Collinsville and its surrounding area for success regardless of ability, gender, racial identity or ethnicity by increasing access through full participation within inclusive, natural environments.”

Collinsville Community Inclusion Team Activities

Collinsville CIT has met monthly since August 2020. The CIT continues to work together to provide information to the community about inclusion. To this end, District representatives on the team have created a video highlighting what inclusive practices looks like, sounds like, and feels like. Use THIS LINK to view the video.

The Collinsville CIT created a Facebook page to continue to share information on inclusion with the wider community: Collinsville Community Inclusion Team

Finally, Collinsville CUSD #10 and Riverbend Head Start have embarked on a pilot to expand individualized services at the Head Start facility. A limited number of preschool students who are eligible to receive special education and related services are able to stay in their natural, inclusive classroom at Head Start and receive services provided by District #10 staff. This deep collaboration between the District and Head Start has been made possible through the formation and continued work of the Collinsville Community Inclusion Team.

April 2021

Dear Collinsville CUSD10 Parent/Guardian:

RE: Annual Electronic Residence Verification – Batch Services from Thomas Reuters CLEAR

Collinsville Community Unit School District No. 10 is happy to share that we are updating our district practice for annual student residence verification for compliance with District Policy and Illinois School Code.  In an effort to honor parent and staff time, Collinsville CUSD10 will be working with a third-party vendor who uses a system called CLEAR Batch to automatically verify parent/guardian residency within the Collinsville CUSD10 boundaries. The CLEAR Batch system reviews public records to verify the parent/guardian name and address. In the past, all households were required to verify residency at the initial time of student enrollment for continued enrollment in the District.  This new process will allow Collinsville School District to annually verify parent/guardian residence within the boundaries of the Collinsville CUSD10.

The software will allow staff to conduct electronic residency verification for the district.  The intent of the software is to:

  1. Conduct annual residence verification in an efficient manner.
  2. Significantly reduce parent time needed to satisfy annual residence verification.
  3. Significantly decrease staff time taken for the annual residency verification process.

Electronic Residence Verification (ERV) is a new technology that has been proven to be highly successful; we will be using this technology service for the annual residence verification process starting April 12, 2021.

If you would like more information on electronic residence verification, please review our FAQ sheet.

Please know that we are committed to protecting taxpayer dollars through our annual enrollment and residency process.  Parents/Guardians will be notified if we are unable to verify your address.   Parents/Guardians who have moved and have a different address than is linked to your child’s Skyward account should complete an address change through the CUSD10 Student Services Office (Please bring required Proof of Residency in Category I and Category II).  Appointments to make an address change may be made by visiting the CUSD10 Student Services Appointment Calendar.

Online registration for school will open on July 12, 2021 and must be completed for all “residence-cleared” families prior to the first day of student attendance on August 18, 2021.

If the CLEAR Batch system is unable to verify your address throughout the year, or identifies inconsistencies in these public records, you will be notified and required to prove residency through the CUSD10 Enrollment Office.  Also, if your address cannot be verified, you will be unable to complete the online registration process.

Parents/Guardians of students attending schools in Unit 10 through a District Education Affidavit may be required to renew the Affidavit prior to completing the online registration.

KEY POINTS

  1. Returning students whose families who are determined by the CLEAR Batch screening to reside within the Unit 10 school boundaries, will not need to provide additional residency documents.
  2. All families with new students to the District will be required to provide all requested documents to prove residency as part of the Online Enrollment process through the Skyward Family Access System.  Families that do not pass the CLEAR screening, will also be required to present all requested documents to the CUSD10 Student Services Office in order to prove residency for the upcoming school year.

We look forward to a successful 2021-2022 school year.

If you have any questions about the residency verification process, please contact the District Enrollment Office (618-346-6350) or via email at enrollment@cusd.kahoks.org

Dear Kahok Family:

As we wind down the first semester for the 2020-2021 school year, we want to provide a quick reminder regarding the option families have to change their child(ren)’s instructional learning plan from Remote/Exclusive Online (i.e. at home Remote/Online instruction provided by CUSD10 Staff) to Hybrid/Blended (i.e. some days each week at school for in-person instruction, some days each week at home for Remote/Online instruction) OR from Hybrid/Blended to Remote/Exclusive Online.

We ask that ONLY parents wishing to change their current selection (chosen for quarter 2) do so by putting their request in writing to their school principal for each child OR complete the Google Form below.

Written requests to the building principal or the completion of the Google Form must be submitted by a parent or guardian by December 15, 2020 at 4:00PM for each student requesting a change to their Quarter 2 plan selection.

Written requests should include the learning plan choice, student’s name (first and last), the student’s grade level, the parent/guardian name (first and last) and parent/guardian contact information. Please understand this selection will be in effect from Monday, January 4, 2021 through Friday, March 12.

For families wishing to CHANGE their current learning environment selection (chosen for Quarter 2), please forward your written request as outlined above OR click the following link to complete the form by December 15 (4:00PM).

Please note that this form should only be completed if you are requesting a change from your choice selection made for the previous academic quarter. (For example: If your child was on the Hybrid/Blended plan during quarter 2 and you wish to continue the Hybrid/Blended plan for quarter 3, you DO NOT need to complete a change form).

CHANGE IN LEARNING PLAN CHOICE REQUEST (for Quarter 3)

Parents/guardians should understand that students will be expected to follow the remote learning expectations set by the District/State in order to be counted as present and earn grades during an exclusive Remote Learning Plan or on days of Remote Learning during the Hybrid/Blended Learning Plan. In order to access the instruction and curriculum via Remote Learning through the school district, the student must attend scheduled Google Meets sessions, participate in Google Classroom assignments and schedule individual meetings and conferences with their teacher(s).

Families are reminded that in accordance with the Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education requirements, students must be screened each day for COVID-19 symptoms and other criteria prior to entering a school building or entering a school bus.

  • Parents must screen their child each day prior to sending their child to school. If your child does not meet all the following criteria as outlined on the COVID-19 Daily Student Certification Checklist, you must keep your child at home and notify the school of your child’s absence.
  • Your child will not be permitted to return to school until he/she meets all return-to school criteria or your child’s physician has released your child to return to school, whichever is applicable. If your child is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, you should consult your health care provider for a diagnosis and treatment

Thank you for your continued cooperation and support during the first academic semester of the 2020-2021 school year.  As always, if you have any questions regarding your child(ren)’s education, please reach out to your child(ren)’s teacher(s) and/or school principal.

The CLEAR Batch system reviews public records to verify the parent/guardian name and address. In the past, all households were required to verify residency at the initial time of student enrollment for continued enrollment in the District.

This new process will allow Collinsville School District to annually verify parent/guardian residence within the boundaries of the Collinsville CUSD 10.
