Crittenden County

School District

To launch students to personal success in an ever-evolving world.
Spotlight

Dear Rocket Family,

When we adopted the #BelieveInBlue tagline last year, we couldn’t imagine the profound and far-reaching impact it would have on the decisions we make daily in our district. We believe in our vision. We believe in our mission. And we believe in our core values. Most importantly, however, we believe in our students, our staff, and our community. The word “believe” carries great significance and meaning, and we have chosen to keep it as a centerpiece of our culture.

This year, our schools and district leadership teams, joined by parent, student, and community members, united to re-imagine our strategic plan. Through the process, we created a new shared vision:  to launch students to success in an ever-evolving world. Now, more than ever, that vision is more than just a want; it is a need. We are preparing students to work in professions and industries that don’t yet exist, but we know that the timeless skills of cooperation, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving will equip them to thrive in any environment.

Our mission is Committed to Cultivating Success.  We achieve that by instilling our core values in each other and in our students. We put Kids First. They are at the heart of every decision we make. We pursue Excellence. We strive to be better tomorrow than we are today. We place a strong emphasis on Relationships. We nurture positive connections by treating others with empathy, compassion, and respect. Safety is our top focus. We prioritize the physical and mental well-being of our Rocket family. We celebrate Tradition. We take pride in our identity as Rockets by honoring our history as we invest in our future.

We wholeheartedly believe in our students, our staff, our parents, and our community, and we invite you to #BelieveInBlue with us as we look forward to another great year of learning and growth.

Due to slick roads and predicted below freezing temperatures through most of the day tomorrow, we are canceling school tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 3. This will be NTI Day 2, and students should complete Day 2 work in their packets. Teachers will be available via email for any questions. Thank you for your flexibility as we keep our student and staff safety our top priority.

      Rocket Families,

Due to a broken water line at our high school, there is a possibility that we may have to cancel school district-wide tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 26. Crews are on the scene now attempting to repair the problem, but at this time, we are unsure how long it may take. If we do have to cancel school, a ParentSquare message will be shared, as well as social media updates. It will be an NTI day, where students can work on assignments at home.

We will update you this evening on the status of the problem. At this time, we want to give as much notice as possible to parents, so that back-up plans for supervision can be made in the event we do have to cancel.

Excellence, which we define as striving to be better tomorrow than we are today, is one of our five CORE VALUES at Crittenden County Schools, and these students are wonderful examples of just that. Rocket Families,
As we approach the winter season, we look ahead into potential weather situations that may cause us to cancel school. NTI (Non-Traditional Instruction) packets are being sent home today with students at all schools. Please store them in a safe location when your student arrives home. The work contained in them is only for district-designated NTI days due to school closings. When NTI days are issued, we'll share more information about the work to be completed. Have a great weekend!

      Rocket Nation,
Your support of our student-athletes is unmatched! The pride and spirit you show at all of our games and events are part of what makes Crittenden County Schools such a special place for our students and families. We know that as Rocket fans, you #BelieveInBlue and in the safety and success of our students.

Part of keeping our students and our fans safe hinges on supervision. As we kick off our first home football scrimmage of the season tonight, we want to remind you of our initiative to ensure our games and events remain enjoyable and safe for everyone in attendance.

All students in grades Kindergarten through 8th must be accompanied by an adult at all school and athletic events and will not be admitted without an adult age 18 or older. Additionally, students in grades Kindergarten through 5th should sit with their accompanying adult during the game. Students, regardless of age, will not be permitted to throw balls or other objects or engage in simulated games in the end zones or in any area of the stadium or field during a game. This is to ensure your child's safety and the safety of our friends and visitors attending our athletic events.

We know you'll agree that while watching our athletes in action is one of our favorite traditions at Crittenden County Schools, the health and safety of our students take top priority. We thank you for partnering with us on that initiative, and we look forward to a continued exciting fall season for our Rockets! #BelieveInBlue

Perez Named to KDE’s Teachers Advisory Council

Mandy Perez, 5th grade teacher at Crittenden County Elementary School, is among 15 Kentucky public school educators who have been named to the Kentucky Department of Education’s (KDE) Teachers Advisory Council (TAC) for the 2024-2025 school year. Commissioner of Education Robbie Fletcher shared the announcement late last month.

The council is designed to improve Kentucky’s educational landscape by providing the commissioner of education with direct input from classrooms. Bridging the gap between policy and practice, TAC was created to advise the commissioner on educational priorities so students of the Commonwealth are well-prepared for any career they choose.

“As we strive to shape the future of Kentucky’s education, the voices of our educators are crucial,” Fletcher said. “I’m excited to continue working with this council to build an improved school system that teachers are proud of--one that involves being ‘all in’ to ensure every student has the skills he or she needs for a successful future.”

Perez, named Kentucky’s Teacher of the Year in 2023, is one of eight returning teachers to the council.

For Mrs. Tammi, insurance is something she completely understands. This is a relief for teachers like me, who are intimidated and always anxious about enrolling this time each year. I so appreciate her understanding and patience, as she walked me through step by step to get enrolled. Thank you, Mrs. Tammi, for going above and beyond!
