Combatting cyber crimes takes a community

This past Monday, child crime expert Detective Richard Wistocki spent the whole day at Unity Junior High School, speaking during the day to students and in the evening with parents about the intricacies of the digital landscape and shedding light on the ever-evolving threats of cyberbullying, sexting and other online dangers.

As an active cyber crimes detective, Wistocki travels across the U.S., educating law enforcement using cutting edge investigative techniques, and parents and students on responsible digital activity.

In this digital age where children of all ages are using social media (and often lying about their age to do so), Wistocki warned both students and parents about the dangers lurking behind seemingly mindless apps, video and chat platforms, and shared tips on how parents can monitor their child's internet and phone activity to avoid the worst.

Hopefully, students and their families walked away from the day with much needed information on how to stay safe while using the internet and digital apps, and know what to do in the event they are presented with danger!
