On Thursday, Oct. 26, all students at Sherlock Elementary School were in for a special literacy surprise as Bernie's Book Bank, a Lake Bluff-based nonprofit, donated free children's books for students across all grade levels!

Bernie's Book Bank sources, processes and distributes books at Title I schools throughout Chicagoland to empower children to explore new ideas, gain knowledge and strengthen reading skills through book ownership.

With a commitment to increasing book ownership, improving literacy growth, and delivering age-appropriate, culturally relevant books to children, Bernie's Book Bank works to solve the challenge of providing quality books to children one book at a time!
