On Wednesday, Sept. 20, State Sen. Javier Loera Cervantes (D-IL-1st Dist.) visited Sherlock Elementary School as a special guest participant at the school's first Sherlock Family Engagement Day of the year.

From dropping in to a few classrooms to observe teachers and students in action and touring the school to speaking with parents about his role in supporting the community, Cervantes had a first-hand opportunity to see what goes on in the school's halls on an average school day, and hear from administrators and parents about the importance of following school curriculum guidelines and community engagement.
