Renowned storyteller Mama Edie visits Drexel

On Friday, Oct. 27, "Mama" Edie Armstrong, a Chicago-based bilingual storyteller, stopped by Drexel Elementary School to entertain and educate students with music and storytelling based in Latin American and African traditions!

A solo performer who has performed for schools, libraries, hospitals and corporations throughout the U.S. and abroad, Armstrong sings songs in Spanish, Yoruba (Nigerian dialect), Kiswahili (East African dialect), English and Twi (Ghanan dialect), incorporating visual art, drumming, movement and song in her interactive presentations.

With the goal of broadening storytelling perspectives for both children and adults, Armstrong surely kept audiences at the school entertained!
