Winter weather family reminder
Jacqueline Pisano

Dear Cicero District 99 Families,

As we begin to enter the cold months of winter weather, please be reminded of District 99’s inclement weather procedures.

Parents of bus riders should be aware that extremely cold morning temperatures and heavy snow can cause delays on morning routes. Our Transportation Department works to pick up students as quickly as possible during these conditions.

Steps you can take to keep children safe include ensuring they are dressed as warmly as possible during the winter months and remaining with your children until they are picked up when extreme weather conditions exist.

Parents of walkers should also be aware that children are not dropped off at school until doors open and supervision is present. Please do not have your child arrive at school before 7:10 a.m. at Unity Junior High School, or 8:10 a.m. for breakfast at the elementary and intermediate schools.

In the event that schools are delayed, closed or released early, there are a variety of ways we notify parents, including:

  • Automated phone call
  • ParentSquare
  • Email
  • Text messaging
  • District website (www.cicd99.edu)

It is important that your child’s school has your current emergency contact information, including home and work phone numbers for our calling system. If needed, please take the time to update that information with your child’s school.

Thank you for helping us as we work to keep our students safe.

Sincerely,

Dr. Aldo Calderin

Superintendent
