Speech and Debate Club

 

We are meeting in Ms. Viste's room, C109, and today we are registering for tournaments in the future and going over finances along with the school calendar! We will also be gaging who is interested in the Speech and Debate Club positions for the year; This year the SDCC (Speech and Debate Competition Club) will be one of the most active clubs on campus, planning to attend over 8 tournaments across the year (independent or team), and registering for both the California State Championships, National Speech and Debate Tournament, and our local Citrus Belt Speech Region (with competitors from over 30 schools like Claremont, Redlands, Santiago, etc). We will also be going over potential grants our team will be getting, with goals to attend overnight tournaments such as the UC Berkeley or Harvard Tournaments this year!

 

Whether you are interested in debate (like Lincoln Douglas or Parliamentary) to even theatrical speech (like Poetry, Original Advocacy, and Interpretation), our club is excited to kick off and grow even more this year!

Experience is NOT required as ALL events of interest will be gone over with resources to learn and hone skills for both public speaking and competition.

(Note, the SDCC this year will potentially also be the registration directors for scholarship speech competitions and business conferences)
