Central Square Hosts "A Night of Musical Theatre" Cabaret Performance

The Central Square School District recently held its annual Cabaret Performance, a dazzling evening of music and celebration that highlighted the exceptional talents of high school students while supporting a great cause.

The theme of the concert, "A Night of Musical Theatre," brought beloved Broadway hits to life and featured captivating performances of classics like "Phantom of the Opera" by Andrew Lloyd Webber and "Rent" by Jonathan Larson.

The event showcased Paul V. Moore High School’s premier musical ensembles:

  • High School Vocal Jazz, directed by Mrs. Veronica Mainville
  • High School Symphonic Band, directed by Mr. Ron Haldeman
  • High School Jazz Band and High School Wind Ensemble, directed by Mr. Mark Woods

The cabaret served not only as a celebration of artistic excellence but also as a vital fundraiser. All proceeds from the evening directly support annual music scholarships awarded to deserving senior students during the end-of-year High School Vocal and Wind Ensemble concerts. These scholarships are made possible through contributions from the Central Square Music Booster Organization, private donors and the Cabaret concert itself.

Adding to the evening’s significance, the district proudly inducted four individuals into the Central Square Fine Arts Hall of Fame, which honors alumni, community members, teachers, staff and administrators who have made exceptional contributions to the arts. This year’s inductees are:

  • Leah Shanley
  • Bethany Cripps
  • Melissa Staats
  • Ron Haldeman

The Fine Arts Hall of Fame was established to celebrate outstanding contributors to the artistic community, recognizing their invaluable impact on students and the arts in Central Square schools.
