In a proud moment for the entire school community, Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES has been named a Green Shield School by The Positivity Project for the 2024-25 school year. Green Shield Schools are recognized for exemplifying character and relationship-driven systems among staff, students, and families – to cultivate lifelong learning and a positive school culture.
To earn this honor, Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES participated in an application process driven by six rigorous categories, including: Staff Implementation, Student Leadership, Family Engagement, Professional Learning, Positive Climate, and The P2 Movement.
“Being named a Green Shield School is a testament to the passion and dedication of everyone at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES,” said Jenilee Weisbrod, Principal of Special Education. “It has empowered our students to lead with character, strengthened relationships among staff, and created a shared language of positivity that now extends to families and the broader community.”
On Friday, June 13th, Weisbrod surprised students and staff by announcing the Green Shield School recognition at the 2024-25 awards ceremony. After celebrating the successes of the school year, a banner was revealed and all were invited for a group photo. The banner will be prominently displayed in the hallways of Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES to serve as a lasting reminder of this achievement.
