Calhoun County ISD is proud to announce the selection of two new principals to lead our schools.
Leather McCall was selected to be principal for Calhoun High School. Mrs. McCall has been involved with public education for 16 years, having taught Reading at Palacios Junior High for two years and English at Calhoun High School for five years. Mrs. McCall moved into a School Counselor position in 2015 at HJM Elementary, where she supported her students and families for seven years. From there, she served as an Assistant Principal at both HJM Elementary for a year and JR Elementary for a year. Earlier this year, Mrs. McCall was recognized as the Region 3 Assistant Principal of the Year by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association.
About her experiences at Calhoun County ISD, Mrs. McCall says, “My goal has always been to serve our students and community in a role where I can make the most meaningful impact. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity and look forward to supporting the CHS staff and students in every way possible".
Additionally, Mrs. McCall is committed to partnering with our community to provide the support and resources our students need to thrive.
Breanna Carey was selected to be principal for Hope High School. Mrs. Carey is a Calhoun graduate who has been involved in public education for 15 years, including 12 years of teaching at HJM Elementary and three years as an Assistant Principal at Calhoun High School. Mrs. Carey has also been instrumental in the development and continued progression of the Educational Foundation of Calhoun County.
About the opportunity to provide leadership at Hope High School, Mrs. Carey says, “I strive to create an environment where students are encouraged to dream big and develop practical goals for life after high school – whether that’s college, a trade, or meaningful employment.”
She adds that her dedication to building strong relationships and providing consistent support positions her well to be a compassionate and effective leader for Hope High School.
