The UIL Academics team annihilated the district 30 4A competition at CHS this weekend. They won as DISTRICT SWEEPSTAKES CHAMPIONS with 727 points. That’s 509.5 points higher than the second place winner, Rockport, who had a score of 217.5. This makes 19 consecutive years of district championship wins! In Accounting, Zoe Mauer placed 1st, Mason Rodriguez placed 2nd, Erick Melendez placed 3rd, Aleeya Phillips placed 4th, Olivia Chen placed 5th, and Leo Garza placed 6th. Their team placed 1st overall. In Computer Science, Stacy Zhang placed 1st, Cael Findley placed 2nd, Leo Liang placed 3rd, and Nick Sin placed 6th. Their team placed 1st overall. In Calculator Apps, Stacy Zhang placed 1st, Matthew Yang placed 2nd, Leo Liang placed 3rd, and Greg Huang placed 4th. Derrick Chu placed 5th, and their team placed 1st overall. In Mathematics, Stacy Zhang placed 1st, Ryan Xu 2nd, Leo Liang placed 3rd, Greg Huang placed 4th, and Lucas Lee placed 5th. Derrick Chu placed 6th, and their team placed 1st overall. In Number Sense, Stacy Zhang placed 1st, Ryan Xu placed 2nd, Matt Yang placed 3rd, Leo Liang placed 5th, and Mason Rodriguez placed 6th. Their team placed 1st overall. In Literary Criticism, Allie Chiu placed 1st and Gabbie Mesa placed 3rd.. Their team placed 1st overall. In Ready Writing, Avery Pena placed 1st, Alice Chiu placed 2nd, and Sydney Reininger placed 3rd. In Spelling and Vocabulary, Lucas Lee placed 1st, Stella Nguyen placed 2nd, Mariana Quiralte placed 3rd, and Kashney Cantu placed 5th. Their team placed first overall. In Science, Stacy Zhang placed 1st, Leo Liang placed 2nd, Allie Chiu placed 3rd, Greg Huang placed 4th, Claire Chen placed 5th, and Maci Bryan placed 6th. Stacy Zhang received top Chemistry and Physics. Leo Liang received top Biology. Their team placed first overall. In Current Issues and Events, Gabbie Mesa placed 1st, Stella Nguyen placed 2nd, Nadia Chu placed 5th, and Matt Mesa placed 6th. Their team placed 1st overall. In Social Studies, Katie Chen placed 4th and Naw Paw Do placed 5th. Their team placed 2nd overall.

Seniors! Please send in one baby or toddler picture to [email protected] to be included in the Baby Slideshow for senior day and graduation. Please send these in by this Friday. Only one picture please.
Students who are interested in learning about the medical field and earning community service hours are encouraged to apply to be a junior volunteer for the summer at Memorial Medial Center hospital. Pick up an application at the counselor’s office. Applications must be turned in to the counselor or dropped off at the information desk at the hospital. All applications must be received no later than May 19th.
