Seniors, the window to apply for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarships is closing in less than one week. You need to be get your applications in this week. You do not need to be in 4H or FFA to apply to some of these.
Attention Students! Check your email! This Wednesday, January 29th, Chick-Fil-A will be on campus celebrating our 1st Semester Attendance Incentive. If you had no more than 4 absences in all your classes the 1st Semester of school, you have the option of purchasing a Sandwich. If you received an email from Mrs. Cardwell, you need to make sure to have your money to Adriana Perez in the office by Tuesday, January 28th. Great job coming to school and thank you Coach Horadam for such an awesome idea to celebrate our students who handle their business!
Student Council is hosting their third blood drive of the year on Wednesday, January 29th. If you are 16 or older and would like to donate to save lives, please sign up using the linked QR code i. Google Classroom or on the posters in the hallway. If you are 16, you must have a signed permission slip at every donation. Permission slips are also on Google Classroom or you can get one from Mrs. Anderson in E203.
The Calhoun Sandies powerlifting team participated in the 2nd Annual Woodsboro Meet on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025. Calhoun took 1st place with 55 points and 2nd place Victoria East with 44 points. Scoring for the girls was: Alexis Gonzles 1st place with 605 lbs, Brooklyn Delgado 1st place with 635 lbs, Haley Torres 1st place with 715 lbs, Linda Zamorano 2nd place with 675 lbs, Taliyah Hosey 2nd place with 815 lbs, Zoeigh Pena 4th place with 720 lbs, Claire Flores 10th place with 565 lbs, Amy Rico 1st place with 850 lbs, Zarah Cano 2nd place with 920 lbs, Aniyah Garcia 3rd place with 830 lbs, Zailey Cano 1st place with 1,170 lbs. After this meet, Brooklyn Delgado, Linda Zamorano, and Zoeigh Pena have qualified for regionals. This brings the total to 15 girls who have qualified for regional competiotions thus far.
Boys powerlifting results from the Woodsboro powerlifting meet: Daniel Htoo 114 lbs class 3rd place total 710 lbs, David Varela 148 lbs class 3rd place total 1,230 lbs, Blake Davis 148 lbs 4th place total 880 lbs, Torre Castillo 220 lbs class 3rd place total 1,235 lbs, Jake Jenkins 242 lbs class 2nd place total 1,400 lbs, Gavin Chavez 275 lbs class 3rd place total 1,345 lbs, Artemio Herrera SHW 1st place total 1,580 lbs.
