Calhoun Boys Powerlifting Results: Beeville Trojan Invitational, Daniel Htoo 114lbs class 2nd place total 675 lbs, Shel Htoo 123lbs class 1st place total 1,065 lbs., Blake Davis 148lbs class 4th place total 905 lbs., Jake Jenkins 242lbs class 4th place total 1445 lbs
Gavin Chavez 308 lbs class 6th place total 1,365 lbs. ,Artemio Herrera SHW 2nd place total 1,700 lbs.

The Calhoun Sandies Powerlifting team participated this past Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, in the Trojan Invitational meet at Beeville High School. The team took 2nd place out of 18 teams. Scoring for the team was: Andrea Hinriquez--3rd place with 560 lbs, Merin Cortez--1st place with 660 lbs, Alexis Gonzales--3rd place with 590 lbs, Mately DeSote--3rd place with 720 lbs, Carington Osornia--4th place with 710 lbs, Haley Torres--3rd place with 750 lbs, Talyiah Hosey--2nd place with 850 lbs, Zoeigh Pena--4th place with 735 lbs, Amy Rico--1st place with 845 lbs, Ava Manning--6th place with 805 lbs, Zarah Cano--2nd place with 970 lbs, Anyiah Garcia--3rd place with 835 lbs.  The team will have their next meet Thursday at Seguin HS.

The Sandies traveled to Columbus to battle the lady cardinals and finished the game tied 1 to 1. Ella Vazquez scored the lone goal for the Sandies. Nayelli Vargas  and Jaeleigh Campos finished the night with 4 steals apiece. Yuritza Quesada finished the night with 3 steals. The Sandies will host Hallettsville at Sandcrab stadium Tuesday at 7:15. 

The local scholarships are open starting today.  If you are wanting to do local scholarships, please go by Mrs. McCarthy-Vesely’s desk in between classes or during lunch.  She will explain what you need to do and give you the paperwork to get started on them.

Student Council is wanting to celebrate Valentine’s Day by dressing up this week. These are the days: Tuesday: Orange Day—Wear orange to support ending teen dating violence.  Wednesday: Dynamic Duo—dress as your favorite famous pair/couple, Thursday: Cupid Colors—Wear Valentine’s colors (red, pink, & white)

The library will be closed all day today.

Attention all Freshmen, Sophomores, & Juniors: CHS will be hosting a Course Fair on Tuesday, February 18th from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the CHS cafeteria.  Come by and check out the classes, extracurricular clubs, and sports that will be available to you next year. Registration for next year will start in a couple of weeks.  Make sure that you stop by the Course Fair, so that you know what your choices are. 

Valentines day is this Friday. Plan ahead and buy some roses for your special someone from any member of the SPUD Club. If you don't know who is in the spud club, see Mr. Hamelwright for a list of members.

Students - This is a reminder to check your email everyday.  Delete messages not needed and read and respond to important ones.
