Crockett Elementary Collects Money for The Rainbow Room

Every year Crockett participates in The Rainbow Room Christmas Project.  The Rainbow Room is an organization in Borger that helps to meet the needs of children who are taken out of their homes and placed in foster care.  At Christmas, people/businesses/organizations “adopt” foster children and help to provide them with items on their Christmas list, including clothes and shoes.

Crockett uses this opportunity to teach their students about the importance of community.  They tie this project in with their Pillars of Character including responsibility, caring, and citizenship.   They also take this opportunity to teach scholars about the importance of having compassion for others.

A large container is set up in front of the office and students can drop in change.  Donations are taken on a volunteer basis and done truly in the spirit of giving.  This year over $230 was raised by students.
