Bennington Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Shawn Hoppes as the principal of Bennington’s second middle school for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.
Mr. Hoppes is entering his 21st year in education. He entered the field of education at West Point, NE where he taught for four years. From there he moved to Elkhorn Public Schools and taught for four years, then became Dean of Students in Bellevue at Mission Middle School for three years before moving to an Assistant Principal position at Russell Middle School in Millard for four years. Shawn is currently in his 6th year of a leadership position for Bennington Public Schools.
In commenting on his selection as the principal in charge of opening the community’s second middle school, Mr. Hoppes remarked, “I am incredibly excited and grateful to get the opportunity to be the principal of our new middle school in Bennington. Bennington Middle School will always be near and dear to my heart. I value and respect our staff, students, and parents tremendously and will give everything I have to make the rest of this school year a successful one for all. I am so proud of the middle school programming we were able to collaboratively build at BMS, and I look forward to bringing that same consistency to our new middle school.”
Mr. Hoppes will work with a core team of teachers to plan and prepare for the opening of the new school. This team will have our second middle school facility ready for students to start the 2022-2023 school year. Please join us in extending our sincere congratulations to Mr. Shawn Hoppes as the new principal of Bennington Public Schools’ second middle school.
