Primary Project

  •

The Counseling Office at Council Rock is proud to offer Primary Project as a service for our students. Primary Project is a highly effective and research based program developed by the Children's Institute at the University of Rochester. Primary Project is proactive and preventative in design and is not a counseling or therapy based program. It is designed to supplement the educational experience and personal development of our students. The program helps students adjust to school, gain confidence, and focus on learning. A highly trained adult (Child Associate) provides support and encouragement during child directed play for 30 minutes once per cycle rotation, which helps children function more effectively in school and become more successful learners. Please see the links below for more information about this program and the importance of play:

We have two Child Associates: Mrs. Mary Jo St. George, and Mrs. Amber Woodward. The play rooms are located in the counseling office here at Council Rock.

If your child is identified as a student who would benefit from Primary Project, you will be contacted by your child's teacher during the first part of the school year. Written parent permission is required to participate. No records or indication of participation in this program are maintained in student cumulative school records.  If you have any questions about the program, please contact a member of the Counseling Office.
