BPSA is responsible for the content of four (4) glass display cases at Brainerd High School, six (6) glass display cases at Washington Educational Services Building, and exhibit space in the Board Room of the Board of Education. The exhibit spaces vary in duration of the content exhibited.
Past Exhibits
- Stand Alone: A chronicle of the 120 years of BHS football history, ending with artifacts from the NFL playing experience of Joe Haeg (Class of 2011). The exhibit closed in the spring of 2018.
- Chief Bender (Charles Bender) and Bullet Joe (Leslie Bush): Using paintings and metal artwork created by retired BHS art faculty member Maurice Olson, and loaned to BPSA by the Crow Wing County Historical Society for exhibit purposes, this exhibit brought to life the looks, times and records of these two Brainerd baseball players in the major leagues in the early 1900's.
Bullet Joe pitched for the Brainerd Warriors and, among other accomplishments, pitched a major league no hitter. Chief Bender did not attend Washington High School, but was a Crow Wing County native and is in the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. The Chief Bender and Bullet Joe exhibit closed in August 2018.
- Brainerd Public Schools Faculty Art Exhibit (Closed): An exhibition of former and current faculty two and three dimensional art (BHS-2, Media Center Atrium). The exhibit close in November 2018.
- Apollo 8 and BHS: Opening Doors for 50 Years: BPSA and the BHS Robotics Team assembled a major exhibit showcasing BHS Robotics work and competition successes, blueprints and photographs from the opening of BHS in the fall of 1968, Apollo 8’s spectacular moon orbit trip ending on December 24, 1968, the NASA career of NASA team leader Brianna Cibuzar Rodriguez (Class of 2007), and photographs of social, political and urban unrest, as well as political assassinations in 1968. The exhibit ended in February 2019.
Permanent Exhibits
- C. Elmer Anderson (Class of 1928): C. Elmer Anderson became governor of Minnesota in 1951. This exhibit is displayed in part in the WESB Board Room (WESB-SD) and at Brainerd High School (BHS-3, BHS-4, BHS-5).
- Women of Brainerd High School: As part of National Women's History Month, a committee of women selected 20 distinguished female graduates of BHS for presentation of their stories in a major display at BHS and WESB. The display opened in March 2019 with no scheduled deinstallation date.
Current Exhibits
- Winston Churchill on Historical Vision: This exhibit is located at the main entrance of Brainerd High School (BHS-6). There is no scheduled deinstallation.
