Back in April, Community Middle School and Bound Brook HS students were administered a survey to determine youth substance abuse for alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and prescription drugs. In addition, the survey determined students’ perception of parental and peer disapproval as well as risk and protective factors. The survey used is called the Pride Plus (PRIDE Survey) which was developed by Empower Somerset. In 1998 a federal law designated Pride Surveys as an official measurement of adolescent drug use in America. The surveys were completely anonymous. School staff members did not see the surveys when they were completed. The surveys were conducted online, and students did not identify themselves on the survey. Your child’s anonymity was and is completely protected. Also, your child was totally free to refuse to answer any question simply by leaving the question blank on the form. If you have any questions about the survey, please reach out to your child’s school counseling office.

En abril pasado, se administró una encuesta a los estudiantes de la Escuela Intermedia Community y la Escuela Secundaria Bound Brook para determinar el abuso de sustancias entre los jóvenes, incluyendo alcohol, tabaco, marihuana y medicamentos recetados. Además, la encuesta evaluó la percepción de los estudiantes sobre la desaprobación de sus padres y compañeros, así como los factores de riesgo y protectores.
